Your Mood And Your Spending

August 22, 2011

A scientific study has shown that people who are sad and focused on themselves spend more money and pay higher prices than people who are in a good mood.  This is true even when you are not aware that you are feeling down.

When we are sad and focused on ourselves, we spend money to improve our self-esteem and we pay top dollar to get this mental boost.

So, if you want to get your spending under control, the first thing to do before you start shopping is to ask yourself: “How am I feeling?”  “Am I thinking about myself or about other things?”

When you’re feeling down, don’t shop!  Find something else to do to make yourself feel better — something that doesn’t cost anything!  Stay tuned for free ways to improve your mood.
